NoEscape Ransomware Group Strikes Again, Claims Science History Institute Data Breach

NoEscape ransomware group has claimed the Science History Institute data leak exposing 22 GB of the institution's data.

NoEscape ransomware group has listed Science History Institute on its dark web portal. Science History Institute shares stories of significant scientific developments and the people behind them.

The institution’s museum and library based in Philadelphia have been allegedly breached in the Science History Institute data leak. The Cyber Express Team has reached out to the Science History Institute to gather more details on this alleged breach, but an official response has not been received yet.

A snapshot of the NoEscape Ransomware group‘s post asserts that they have successfully obtained 22 GB of data from the Science History Institute.

This breach was shared on their dark web portal on November 26, 2023, receiving 69 views, as revealed by cybersecurity enthusiast Dominic Alvieri.

The screenshot also states that the next update regarding the Science History Institute data leak will be posted after 1 day, 23hours, 23minutes, and 04seconds.

The data leak at the Science History Institute isn’t the sole breach jeopardizing databases linked to individuals’ identities. The 23andme data breach, revealing genetic details of millions of individuals of Jewish and Chinese origin, poses a significant risk of identity theft for those affected.

About NoEscape Ransomware Group

NoEscape ransomware group first surfaced in May of 2023. This is a group that offers ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS). NoEscape is considered to be a rebrand of Avaddon.

NoEscape uses double-extortion attacks to target businesses. These attacks target Linux, Windows, and VMware ESXi systems with the intention of encrypting files and stealing data. NoEscape is limited to operating systems that support Windows NT 10.0.
